Ronald McDonald House Room Makeover

I'm sure most of you know about the Ronald McDonald House, a wonderful place that provides housing and meals to families with hospitalized children. These families are from out of town and have children who are extremely sick and are hospitalized for weeks, months, and sometimes even longer.

The past few weeks, the girls in my Mom's Time Bible Study group have been working on a room makeover at Ronald McDonald House. Consider this - you have a very sick child and you are miles away from your own home. We just wanted to help provide a comfortable, relaxing space where these families can retreat after long days at the hospital.

Here are the "before" photos:

I designed the room and all the girls pitched in executing the project - from painting to mastering the power drill...

I decided to use a color palette of grays, purple-grays, and plums
accented with a pop of lime green. I made the headboards with 14 x 14" squares covered with a deep plum corduroy. The headboard sconces were one of my favorite finds because
they hook around the top of the headboard and free up space on the nightstand. The cornice was made from plywood and covered with a vintage - like bird print.

I think my favorite part of the room is the flock of birds on the wall.

Every time I look at them, I think of Isaiah 40:31 "But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not grow faint."

What a perfect message for these families... for all of us...

decadent dining: happy halloween!

Make Halloween extra spooky with this terrifying table! My favorite is the black branch centerpiece - spray painted branches from my backyard and orange mini lights. It is
glued and tied together at the bottom so you can turn it upside down and hang it from the ceiling for a spooky chandelier!
